ARTWORK DESIGN & PRODUCTION
2026 - HOEGAARDEN
Carreaux originated from a specific need within an interior — the search for an artwork that truly belonged to the space.
The starting point was a linear ceramic wall composition: twenty tiles, identical in size, arranged in a strict grid. Within this fixed framework, form and colour were explored tile by tile. Working with ceramics — a material defined by the visible imperfections of handcraft — creates a deliberate tension between order and variation, structure and expression.
From this initial composition, the collection expanded into individual tiles, each numbered and unique. Designed to stand alone or pair up, they allow the system to loosen — shifting from composition to object, from wall to space.
Each piece is part of a carefully composed collection, produced in limited series. The work continues to evolve through new editions, shaped both by ongoing research and by the spaces they are created for. While some pieces emerge within specific interior projects, others are developed as part of a broader collection — available as singular works or as part of a larger composition.
